About Kamyar C. Mahboub

Dr. Mahboub joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky in 1988 and in the intervening years has made a significant contribution to his profession in the areas of teaching, research, and service. His primary research focus lies in the area of the mechanistic characterization of construction materials. Dr. Mahboub is a firm believer of technology transfer. For example, as a part of his research, he worked very closely with the construction industry and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to develop QC/QA specifications, which were later adopted by the Cabinet. His interdisciplinary work in the area of “Creativity in Design” was recognized by the American Society for Engineering Education, and it received the Glen Martin Best Paper Award. In addition to over 100 peer-reviewed publications, he has published two chapters in a popular pavement design textbook and has developed three new civil engineering courses at UK.

Dr. Mahboub received his BSCE from The University of Texas at Austin, and MSCE and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. He is a registered professional engineer (PE) in Kentucky, and he is an ASCE Fellow.
