Abstract

Marital satisfaction is known as a main element for quality of matrimony. There has been a number of research conducted to find factors that positively impact on marital satisfaction. Being possibilities in Existential thought to impact on marital satisfaction are not deniable, specifically when the approach has been used for many purposes. However, there is a gap concerning the Existential thought. Although there is a comprehensive existential model extracted from existential counseling theories, there is no experimental research available to evaluate the effects of the existential model on marital satisfaction as a token of qualified matrimony. The aim of the present study was to eliminate the gap by applying the existential model extracted from the existential counselling theories. For this purpose, sixty married Iranian women from two health centres belonging to Tehran Municipality were selected for the experimental and control groups respectively. The findings show that the training based on the existential issues model reveal positive effects on marital satisfaction.
