About Jian Wang
I am Assistant Professor of Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management at the Science Based Business Program, Faculty of Science, Leiden University. Before joining Leiden University I was fellow at the Labor and Worklife Program, Harvard Law School (USA) and postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Management, Strategy and Innovation, KU Leuven (Belgium).
I study science and innovation and in particular the interface between them, integrating various disciplinary perspectives, such as economics, sociology, management, and public policy. My recent research focuses on novelty in science and innovation, factors stimulating novel research, such as funding schemes and team and network structures, and the translation of science into innovation. My research builds on big data analytics and advanced statistical and data mining methods.
I have a Ph.D. degree in Public Policy and a M.S. degree in Statistics, both from Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), and a M.A. degree in Applied Economics and a B.A. degree in Journalism, both from Tsinghua University (China). I currently serve on the editorial board of Research Evaluation.
