Abstract

The principle of informed choice has become a cornerstone of rehabilitation service. However, this principle may be more difficult to achieve when client and counselor are from different cultural, linguistic and ethnic backgrounds. This article lists several barriers that can be associated with culturally sensitive informed-choice practices and presents recommendations for practice which address these barriers.
