About Julie Gentile

Professor and Chair at Wright State University Department of Psychiatry and serves as the Project Director/Primary Investigator for Ohio’s Coordinating Center of Excellence in Mental Illness/Intellectual Disability and for Ohio’s Telepsychiatry Project for Intellectual Disability, serving over 2,100 patients with intellectual disability from 86 counties in Ohio utilizing telemedicine. Dr. Gentile has evaluated over 7,500 patients with IDD since 2000. She is the recipient of both the National Association for the Dually Diagnosed and American Psychiatric Association’s Menolascino National Awards for Excellence in Psychiatric Services for Individuals with Intellectual Disability. There are only six psychiatrists in the US who have been awarded both of the Menolascino Awards. She has been awarded more than $10 million in grants to fund her projects, she has published more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and 22 book chapters, and she has edited two books, including a Guide To Intellectual Disability: A Quick Reference Guide in 2019 by Springer Publishing. Dr. Gentile was chosen to give the national Plenary Session for the national conference in 2021, and to present at the International Dual Diagnosis (MI/ID) conference in Germany in 2021.
