About Julie Carmen

I earned my Master in Library Science and a Graduate level Certificate in Archives from Emporia State University in May, 2009. I was hired in July, 2009 as a research librarian at the Arthur Lake Library, Colorado School of Mines. Although I worked in the library, my employer was the Center for Oil Shale Technology and Research (COSTAR). I was hired to process and increase the accessibility of the oil shale collections within the Tell Ertl Oil Shale Repository. My position ended in January, 2014 due to grant-funding running out. I was hired at Brooks Library, Central Washington University, to transform a Cataloging Department into a Cataloging & Digital Initiatives Department. I also assisted with teaching University101 classes for Information Literacy, and offered reference hours. In August, 2016, I became the grants researcher for the library, and have developed my skill-set devoted to finding grants that fit the library's mission.
