About Jubilee Smith

Jubilee Smith BTeach(SCU), GradDipEd(SCU), MEd(SCU)
Jubilee Smith has been a Primary teacher (K-6) and has been at Southern Cross University teaching since 2003 firstly as a casual academic and then full time as an Associate lecturer in the School of Education teaching. Her areas of teaching include digital interactive technology in Education and English (Primary). Her professional research interests are in the areas of English (Early Childhood and English) as well as the use of digital technology in education along with STEM (Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education.
Jubilee is currently completing her PhD with SCU investigating early childhood educator decision making with digital technology. Jubilee has presented and published from the initial research which lead to her PhD topic. She has collaborated to publish research involving a range of topics regarding tertiary teacher education including mathematics anxiety, the use of IPads in assessment and ethics as part of research. 
Her approach to teaching English to pre-service teachers has been recognised through the award of a 2014 Vice Chancellor's Citation Award for Excellence in Teaching. Over her years as an academic Jubilee has been recognised as a key member of the School of Education English/Literacy team. She has consistently led teams of tutors across campuses and online to deliver high quality teaching at SCU in the areas of literacy, English, Interactive Communication Technology (ICT) and assessment.
Jubilee has presented posters at the national conferences for Early Childhood Australia and Australian Association of Research in Education (2014) as well as at the Queensland Early Childhood Conference and the North Coast Early Childhood practitioner conferences in 2017. Jubilee has a great interest and passion in supporting and enabling early childhood educators to understand the influences on their decision making with digital and interactive technology to ensure positive outcomes for children
