Joyce Perkins PhD, M.A., M.S., Post-Doctoral Senior Scholar in Unitary Human Caring Science

Dr. Perkins is an Associate Professor at St. Catherine University Department of Nursing in St. Paul, MN. Dr. Perkins teaches in the BSN College for Adults program at St. Kate’s. She has also taught in Master’s and DNP programs. She is currently working on curriculum development for a new holistic, multicultural BSN program at St. Kate’s. She is an Advanced Practice Board Certified Holistic Nurse (AHN-BC) with certifications in Healing Touch (CHTP), Reiki (RMT-P) Therapeutic Touch, and Qigong. She has developed and taught group fitness programs (ACE-GFI) in health clubs for 34 years. She also has a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of MN, and a PhD in Nursing from the University of Colorado Health and Science Center, Denver. Dr. Perkins also, just completed 2 years of Post-Doctoral Scholarship in Caring Science with Dr. Jean Watson, 2018. She practiced as a psychiatric nurse at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. for 12 years, in addictions and on an in-patient depression, mood disorder unit. She has recently aligned her efforts with Dr. Jean Watson’s International Institute of Caring Science, where she will develop and expand her work in Unitary Human Caring Science. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Society of Rogerian Scholars, and for the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Center.
