About Jose Luis Sardon
Jose Luis Sardon is the Permanent Representative of Peru to the OAS in Washington D.C. Also, he is a law professor at Universidad de Piura - Campus Lima, where he teaches an online course on Comparative Constitutional Law.
Previously, he served for eight years as a magistrate at the Constitutional Court of Peru (2014-22). Sardon worked at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas for fifteen years. There, he was director of graduate programs in Law & Economics (2000-09) and dean of the Law School (2010-14). Also, he was head of the Law & Social Sciences department at Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (1996-99) and a research professor at Universidad del Pacífico (1991-95). He started his career as executive editor of Debate, a bi-monthly journal of Apoyo (1986-88).
Sardon is author of the books Aproximaciones (1985), Walter Piazza en el MEF (1995), La Constitución incompleta (1999), Libertad Económica y Régimen Político (2010), and Democracia sin populismo (2012). Also, he is the author of more than four hundred articles and columns.
In 2015, he received the Manuel J. Bustamante de la Fuente Prize and Arequipa’s Municipality named him Hijo Predilecto. Since 1997, he has been included in the Maquis’ Who is Who in The World as a “law and political science educator”. In 1984, he received the First Prize at the National Press Contest. He is a member of The Mont-Pelerin Society, The Philadelphia Society, and Yale Law School’s SELA.
He graduated with a B.A. in Law and a J.D. at Universidad Católica Santa María, Arequipa (1986). Also, he holds an M.A. in Political Science from The American University, Washington DC (1990), and a Ph.D. in Economics from ESEADE, Buenos Aires (2010).
