About Jonix Owino

Jonix Owino, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Sacred Heart University. As an applied scientist, Dr. Owino uses her graduate research to help make a difference and understand the experiences of refugee women. In recent articles in the American Journal of Sexuality Education, Journal of Adolescent Health and International Journal of Intercultural Relations, she examines sexuality education and the sexual health needs of refugee youth and other challenges that many refugees face. Other research interests include refugee integration, ethnic relations, ethnographic methods and International migration. Jonix has a Ph.D. in developmental science from North Dakota State University.
