About Jon D. Carlson

I study International Relations, with a focus on political economy and globalization. I tend to focus on frontiers or edges of 'systems' or networks (knowledge systems, cultural groupings, or economic networks), which gives insight as to how those systems work and interact. This includes an interest in 'ocean politics' and standards of governance in areas beyond the territorial state. My cross-cultural interests also manifest as a research agenda in non-western or comparative political thought, and I am currently compiling a volume on classical contributions by non-Western political thinkers. Finally, I am interested in technology and the peaceful use of robots/drones, specifically in agricultural applications.
