Observation 4
Observations (2018)

Abstract
This past week, my mental illnesses have not been a hinder on my life. I sat out in Union Park and watched as a huge conglomeration of people sat at the park and watched each other. Toddlers to the Elderly, everybody sat and enjoyed the overcast weather. It was quite beautiful to see all ages interacting. In one of my previous observations, I stated how the wind was changing and you could smell the 'smell' of fall. That is not as true as this week. The first day of fall it is as if a light switched turned off. The temperatures dropped from 35 centigrade to 16-22. I personally thrive in this environment. There is something about the crispness of the air. In terms of pollution, I have been trying to compile a series of work about the area that I live in. I go borough by borough and document the similarities and contrasts within the neighborhood. For instance, I am starting my own neighborhood of the Financial District. Many people relate this area with The Stock Exchange, World Trade Center, and The previous Twin Towers. This area is so eclectic because you have such a variety of inhabitants here. Whether it is suited up stock brokers, tourists, college students, skateboarders, and even more. This area is some of the most diverse with churches dating back to 1698, original buildings that state 'apothecary' , original cobble stone streets, to modern and innovative structures like The Oculus and One World Trade Center. It is hard to get in touch with nature but when I am with my camera, opera in my ears, and an easy breeze from the air. I'm left to feel the earth around me and admire the sites and feelings. To capture something in a photo is something marvelous as well.
