About Jonathan C. Augustine

Jay Augustine is an adjunct professor of law at Southern University and doctoral candidate at Duke University. He has also done post-graduate work at Princeton Theological Seminary.  Professor Augustine regularly teaches Advanced Constitutional Law at Southern University but has also taught History of World Religions, Christian Ethics, and Business Law at Jarvis Christian College. His research and writing interests include education law & policy, law & religion, and race & the law. Professor Augustine is the senior pastor of Historic St. James AME Church in New Orleans, the birthplace of African Methodism in the Deep South. He began his professional career as a law clerk to Louisiana Supreme Court Chief (then-Associate) Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson.
