The archives of the Congregation of the Mission in Paris collected and published letters from Bishop Joseph-Martial Mouly (1802–1868), apostolic vicar of Peking. His accounts of life in China and Mongolia in his mature years, 1862–1863, offer valuable insights to Vincentian mission work in China. They serve as a day-by-day diary of that period.
