Vincent de Paul and Judas Iscariot.pdf
Vincentian Heritage Journal (2019)

Abstract
A close reading of the writings of Vincent de Paul reveals that he mentioned Judas Iscariot more than fifty times in his extant writings. He must have reflected on this crucial New Testament figure, and then laid out the results of his reflections for the Daughters of Charity and the members of the Congregation of the Mission, to whom he often gave spiritual conferences. He drew out lessons for spiritual living, even reflecting on the faults in his own life. The moral lessons dealt with perseverance in the good, unworthy reception of the Eucharist, murmuring and fault-finding, finances, the choice of good advisors or confessors, and elections to office.
