The procurator general represents the Congregation of the Mission to the Holy See, and thus receives reports from provinces and individuals requesting action. These original letters and papers are arranged chronologically and geographically into 1. America; 2. Western Province; 3. Eastern Province. The most important documents historically are from Joseph Rosati, bishop of St. Louis, and John Timon, provincial (or visitor), and later bishop of Buffalo.
