The author, a Chinese Vincentian bishop (1892-1977), commemorated the twenty-fifth anniversary of the apostolic vicariate of Baoding, 10 October 1935. He reviews the history of missionary work there and of his predecessors as bishops. His hope was that the growth in vocations and conversions among the Chinese would foresee a glorious future for the Catholic Church in China. He relied on the generosity of donors to help the local church. Unfortunately, his hopes were misplaced. He spent his last years in prison.
