A translation into English of a letter from Joseph Martial Mouly, C.M., of Beijing, to Eugène Boré, C.M., secretary general, and in charge of missions, of the Congregation of the Mission, headquartered in Paris. Mouly's account is rich in valuable information about his missionary confreres and the difficulties that they all faced in China. A portrait of the bishop closes the article.
