Abstract
The third and final volume of the memoirs of the Congregation of the Mission in China continues their story by examining the various missions established in China amid better circumstances for Christianity. These include the story of the arrival of the Catholic Church in Korea, its development in Mongolia, and the importance of the Portuguese mission in Macao. The arrest and martyrdom of Jean-Gabriel Perboyre (1840) is related at length; his beatification by the Church was followed by his canonization, although not mentioned in this text. The significant details of the relations between China and European powers provides important background. The history concludes about 1860.
