Abstract

This is the earliest printed report in Vincentian sources on the Congregation’s American mission. It has been translated from an 1838 issue of the Annales de la Congregation de la Mission. It describes the foundation of the seminary at Saint Mary’s of the Barrens, as well as the churches built there and elsewhere. It also details the Congregation’s growth, the number of priests formed, instruction given to Catholics, conversions wrought among Protestants, and work with Native Americans.
