Abstract
Joseph-Laurent Carayon (1814-1846), a French member of the Congregation of the Mission, the Vincentians, went to the Vincentian mission in China in 1841. He taught in a seminary in Mongolia, until his arrest by Chinese authorities. His interrogations are related here, and his confinement lasted six months. After release, he wanted to return to Mongolia where he had worked earlier, but he died on the way.
