About John Riley

My research involves providing engineering R & D support to Maine's aquaculture, fisheries and seafood processing industries. Current projects include: 1) Engineering studies of caged fish culture; design of moorings for ocean net pens. 2) Improved shipping techniques for live seafood. 3) Design of recirculation systems for aquaculture. 4) Optimization of the design of shellfish upwellers. In addition I am responsible for the University's wave/towing tank, a 120 ft. long, 20,000 gallon facility with computer controlled wave making capabilities and variable speed carriage used for full size or scale model testing of materials, structures and vessels.
