Abstract

Although the emphasis in the study of African cultural survivals in the United States has been on their survival among African Americans, many of these Africanisms survive equally and even more commonly among white Americans. This has importance not only for understanding the United States and its culture but for study of culture contact and cultural transmittal in general.
