Abstract

The few wrong notes in recordings of Rachmaninoff come as a surprise to most listeners; in the case of Alfred Cortot or Paderewski, there are a great many wrong notes. However, these artists have such individual styles that they make the absolute accuracy of pianists today seem antiseptic at times.
