About John Coggon

I am currently a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Manchester, based in the School of Law. The principal focus of my current research is on public health law, ethics, and regulation.
The research I undertook in Cardiff Law School was under the supervision of Professor Soren Holm. My research interests are in health care policy, health care law, and bioethics. My doctoral research has focused on end-of-life issues.
I was the winner of the 2006 Mark S. Ehrenreich Prize in Healthcare Ethics Research, awarded by the Pacific Center for Health Policy and Ethics at the University of Southern California in conjunction with the International Association of Bioethics, for my paper "Varied and Principled Understandings of Autonomy in English Law: Justifiable Inconsistency or Blinkered Moralism?"
