About John C. Poutsma

We are interested in the intrinsic chemical properties of unusual organic and biological species. Current projects include the study of the structure, energetics and fragmentation behavior of small peptide ions in the gas phase. Current projects include measuring acid-base properties using the extended kinetic method, determining peptide structure using hydrogen-deuterium exchange and infrared multiple photon dissociation spectroscopy, and investigating peptide fragmentation mechanisms using tandem mass spectrometry and density functional theory calculations.
