Abstract

Remarkable twinned crystals of both black and red manganotantalite have been recovered from two recently discovered pegmatites near Alto do Giz, Equador, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The pegmatite is only worked sporadically by a few garimpeiros, and relatively little tantalum is being produced.
