About John Childress, MD, FACEP, CAQSM

Dr. John Childress is currently the Director of Sports Medicine for the Emergency Medicine Residency at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital. He is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Critical Care at FIU- Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. A native of Arkansas, Dr. Childress received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Central Arkansas. He later relocated to Ohio and received his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. Following medical school, he trained in Emergency Medicine at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, where he also served as Chief Resident. After completion of his residency, Dr. Childress relocated to South Florida where he worked as an emergency medicine physician for many years. He later completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at The University of Cincinnati. He served as Team Physician to Miami University Division One NCAA Athletics while a fellow.
