About Joel A. Lane

Joel Lane, PhD, is an assistant professor for the Counselor Education Department and coordinator of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. He completed his doctorate in counselor education at Oakland University in the Detroit, Michigan area. He specializes in counseling children and adolescents and in providing post-master’s supervision. His research interests include life transitions in emerging adulthood, attachment theory, and the impact of various counselor and client characteristics on counseling outcomes. He is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences and an active advocate for the counseling profession through various state, regional, and national counseling organizations.
