This presentation will discuss the development of an additional tool to measure health literacy in school aged populations. The Health Literacy Assessment for Children and Adolescents (HELACA) was created to measure health literacy that is more developmentally appropriate to the specific health risk behaviors of youth, as well as sources of information that school aged populations use in order to obtain their health information. The author will share the tool with participants and share early results to establish validity and reliability.
