Abstract

These interviews were part of the class's semester long work related to managing our use of information systems to counter disinformation/misinformation, constructing dialogues with those whose identities and beliefs differ, and preparing ourselves to advocate for those who are marginalized and/or oppressed. In this project students interviewed people who were consistently acting as human rights advocates in some capacity to better understand their ethical motivations for doing so, the barriers they encountered, and the effects of their work on their local community. We are grateful to those who allowed us to share their conversations in an effort to help all of us understand our capacity to be human rights advocates ourselves.
