Abstract

If a repository is simply a place to put things for safekeeping, then a secure digital repository has a much higher bar to clear. In 2006, the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries’ Alliance Digital Repository (ADR) program committed itself to build a stable, secure, and scalable repository that meets, as much as any repository can, the requirements of trustworthiness and satisfies not only the guiding literature but also the needs and expectations of its member institutions. In doing so they discovered that security is a combination of responsibility, trust, and goodness.
