Project Description

Jessica Miehe, Assistant Professor of Nursing, and Julie Mumm, Assistant Professor of Public health, was awarded $5,119 by the International Paper Foundation to continue work on the Lice Project. The PIs, along with public health and nursing students, will work with the White Bear Lake Area school district to educate parents and their 1st-5th grade students about lice infestation to induce stigma among children and affected by lice infestation students and faculty of. St. Catherine University will collaborate to develop and provide the education in order to increase effective prevention and treatment of lice, reduce stigma among children and families affected by lice infestation, and increase communication between families and the school health office. Students and faculty will collaborate to develop and provide the education, and students will gain skills on how to conduct scholarly inquiry and increase social justice awareness.
