About Jennifer L Mueller

Jennifer Mueller is a Practitioner-in-Residence in Washington College of Law’s Janet R. Spragens Federal Tax Clinic. Prior to joining the faculty at WCL, she was counsel at the public policy consulting firm The Raben Group, where she assisted non-profit clients with research, strategy, and messaging on a wide range of issues, including education, health care, homelessness, gun control and urban renewal.
As an associate with the Washington, DC law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering (now WilmerHale), Professor Mueller was part of the team that successfully defended the constitutionality of the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act (BCRA) before the Supreme Court in McConnell v. FEC, and the team that challenged the legality actions taken by drug “task forces” in Texas in a civil rights case that received widespread media attention. Her other work at the firm spanned several substantive areas, including Saudi arbitration law, U.S. securities law, white collar crime, property law, and contracts. Before joining Wilmer, Professor Mueller clerked Judge Warren J. Ferguson on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Professor Mueller is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was president of the Harvard Mediation Program and a court-appointed mediator for the state of Massachusetts. A member of the California and D.C. bars, she has also worked as a teacher and a freelance policy writer.
