This year, on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we can do something positive for nature while sheltering in place. The spread of dangerous diseases like the coronavirus isn’t new, nor are others that infect us when we disrupt natural processes, such as HIV/AIDS, West Nile Virus, Ebola, H1N1 and Lyme disease, to name a few. A pattern is emerging: Our good health depends on nature, and a consistent underlying cause of our bad health is our abuse of nature.
