Abstract
This program will be a mix of role-play and Q&A with the panelists.  Presenters will respond to questions that 1Ls ask in a typical class/meeting session in ways that will explain why the legal research class is not just “dicta” but rather it is an integral part of their law school education so that instructors are not having to constantly repeat or justify the work done in class. Participants will also learn how to turn a simple question into a teachable moment or how to change what they are doing now to improve their connection and authority with students going forward.  Finally, panelists will discuss the most frequently asked questions they receive from new legal research instructors and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists and share their experiences and ideas for teaching 1Ls.
