Abstract

In many Western industrialized countries high rates of youth unemployment have resulted in a tendency for young people to remain at school and complete post compulsory education. Education systems have established more explicit links between secondary schools and the world of work to address youth unemployment. This paper examines the links between upper secondary and tertiary level arts programs and the world of work. The paper focuses on key competencies that were listed in the Mayer Key Competencies report of 1992.
