Accepted LLM Thesis Proposal
(2018)
  • Jennifer Allison
Abstract
I have posted this to provide an illustration of my progression from the earliest work on my LL.M. thesis to the final paper, and to provide an example of what an LL.M. thesis proposal can look like. This outline includes (a) research notes (topical organization of quotes from relevant readings); (b) a 2-page proposed outline for the thesis; and (c) a bibliography of sources that I had reviewed up to that point (in the approved German legal academic citation format). The document is 16-pages in length and took a few weeks to research and draft. Although it is primarily in German, I did review a cite a number of English-language sources, so there is a significant amount of English content. Note that I also used MS Word's comment bubble feature to list English translations of a few words that I struggled with in German. The proposal was approved with very few suggested changes by my supervisor, Prof. Dr. Stefanie Schmahl.
