About Jennifer Quinlan

Dr. Jennifer Quinlan is Professor and Executive Director of the Food Security Research Center at Prairie View A&M University. Her USDA supported research has included interdisciplinary “community to bench” work around health disparities in enteric diseases. Her laboratory identified food safety risks for low income and minority populations at both the consumer and retail levels.  Her group’s research has also resulted in consumer food safety education materials which have had national and international impact. More recently her research has explored food safety risks for older adults as well as the impact of limited food access on food waste for low-income consumers.
Dr. Quinlan is a Fulbright Scholar. She served two terms on USDA’s National Advisory Committee for Microbiological Criteria for Foods and currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Food Protection Trends and the Journal of Food Protection. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Partnership for Food Safety Education.
