Dr. Jennifer Lovell is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). Dr. Lovell completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and later specialized in pediatric psychology and infant mental health during postdoctoral training at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Her primary areas of scholarly interest focus on health disparities, integrated behavioral healthcare, and social and cultural factors impacting child and family health and wellness. She is also passionate about community-based research and youth participatory action research.

 

Dr. Lovell co-authored a book with Dr. Joseph White (2019): The “Troubled” Adolescent: Challenges and Resilience in Family and Multicultural Contexts. From 2014-2016, Dr. Lovell was a professor in the PhD Clinical Psychology Program at California School of Professional Psychology, Fresno, CA. She taught courses on multicultural counseling, research methods, health psychology and adolescent psychology. At CSUMB, Dr. Lovell teaches clinical psychology, psychology in the community (service-learning course), mentorship and facilitation, directed research in child health and wellness, and directed research in clinical psychology. Dr. Lovell also engages in scholarship of teaching and learning research on psychology service learning with colleague, Dr. Christine Valdez. Dr. Lovell is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California.
