About Jeffrey Seppala

Dr. Jeffrey Seppala joined the faculty in the Department of Music at Boise State University in 2020 where he serves as an Assistant Professor of Voice and Director of Opera and Musical Theatre. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice degree in Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute at the University of North Carolina’s School of the Arts, and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Biola University. An active performer and vocal pedagogue, Dr. Seppala's research interests focus on a scientific understanding of Old World vocal training, resonance in singing styles, and vocal improvement through body techniques such as Yoga. He has performed with symphonies and opera companies including the Opera Colorado, Central City Opera, Tri-Cities Opera, Colorado Pro Musica, MahlerFest, and the Piccolo Festival in Friuli, Italy. He is currently a member of the College of Music Society, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, and Yoga Alliance. Prior to coming to Boise State, Dr. Seppala taught at Truman State University and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
