Abstract
The four short seasons that Monty Python’s Flying Circus aired on the BBC were like the ripple that became a tsunami. The show was built on a particular brand of humor that set it apart from anything else before or since. That humor was infused with references to history, literature, poetry, and thoughts about language, government and philosophy. Truly loving Python isn’t simply about reciting lines from a sketch, it’s about understanding the underlying connective tissue that makes the sketch hilarious
