Abstract

Background

This project evaluated the effectiveness of an unfolding multipatient simulation focusing on collaborative practice competencies.

Method

Sixty-eight senior nursing students participated in this pilot project. The virtual multipatient simulation included electronic health record and video simulation review, individual observation of the video, and group debriefing.

Results and Conclusions

Qualitative analysis, focusing on delegation, prioritization, and collaborative practice themes, to suggest a student tendency to focus on task oriented rather than higher-level skills, such as prioritization. This educational intervention will be redeveloped and expanded to include participation in live multipatient simulation to bridge the theory practice gap.
