Abstract

Herbeck illustrates the lexical and ideological similarities with which Camus wrote about his two greatest passions — the theatre and soccer — over the course of his lifetime. He illustrates how, when Camus found himself unable to devote himself fully to the stage and writing plays, he nonetheless turned to the theatrical, both literally and figuratively, in his philosophical essays, literary works and interviews as a means of articulating key struggles relative to the human condition.
