About Jason Moss

Jason Moss is an assistant professor of Pharmacy Practice at Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Dr. Moss completed a clinical fellowship in geriatrics at the Durham VA Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center in association with Campbell University. Since 2010, he has practiced as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at the Durham VA Health Care System (DVAHCS) in a geriatric outpatient clinic. Through a collaborative practice agreement, he provides direct patient care with prescribing privileges for diabetes, hypertension, anticoagulation and other chronic disease management. Dr. Moss serves as the longitudinal preceptor for the DVAHCS PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Geriatrics ambulatory care experience. He is also heavily involved in professional organizations, currently serving on the board of directors for the North Carolina Association of Pharmacists (NCAP) and chair for the NCAP’s Chronic Care Practice Forum.

Dr. Moss has focused his research efforts to include interventions in the reduction of potentially harmful medications in veteran older adults. For the past several years, he has been a co-investigator on a quality improvement initiative to decrease potentially inappropriate prescribing in a VA emergency department for older adults seen and discharged from the ED. His current research efforts include a pilot project studying medication optimization in an older adult population with undiagnosed cognitive impairment and the use of electronic consults to reduce medications that increase falls in a high-risk, older adult primary care population. Additionally, Dr. Moss have been involved in many interprofessional educational activities including the role of the academic pharmacist in the Duke University Center of Aging Geriatric Education Center.
