About Jasel McCoy

Jasel Deneice McCoy is the director and assistant professor of the Fitness and Exercise Studies program at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. She also serves as the assistant chair of the department of Public Health and Wellness. Professor McCoy is currently completing her doctorate in public health (emphasis in health education) at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. She also teaches courses in kinesiology, fitness programming and exercise physiology.
Jasel comes to Andrews University from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Her research interests include increasing physical fitness levels among students at Andrews University, differences in physical fitness based on gender and ethnicity, the use of exercise to prevent chronic diseases, and the disease-preventing properties of exercise and fitness. She is also passionate about health and fitness awareness in underserved communities.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, travel, photography, watching movies, reading, refurbishing furniture, painting and of course exercising.
