About Janet Reis

Dr. Janet Reis came to Boise State University in 2011 to direct the research activities of the College of Health Sciences. She was formerly a professor in the Department of Family Medicine for the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and had also served there as Community Health Research Coordinator, and Professor and Head of the Department of Community Health. Dr. Reis has a Ph.D. in Psychology from The State University of New York at Buffalo as well as a B.A. in Psychology from The John Hopkins University. Her research interests include health literacy for primary care patients in primary care settings, and the health of college students, especially concerning the use of alcohol. In 2012, it was announced that Dr. Reis will have a joint appointment with Boise State and Healthwise to assess the effectiveness of shared medical decision making between patients and their health care providers.
