About Janet Stramel

Janet Stramel is a Professor and the Edna Shutts Williams Endowed Chair in the College of Education, Department of Teacher Education at Fort Hays State University. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with an Endorsement in Middle School Mathematics from the University of Central Oklahoma, a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Kansas State University, and an earned Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction, Emphasis in Mathematics from Kansas State University. In addition, Dr. Stramel is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescence Mathematics. Prior to coming to Fort Hays State University, she was a middle school mathematics teacher in Guthrie, Oklahoma and Wamego, Kansas. Her current research includes a focus on preparing elementary teachers with a STEM focus and rural education.
