Janet Fiorentino has been a member of the California State Bar Association since 1997, the same year she graduated from San Joaquin College of Law. She has free-lanced as both a paralegal and attorney, drafting briefs on a wide range of civil issues. Her additional experience includes assisting low-income clients with landlord-tenant issues, summarizing depositions and drafting contracts and wills. She has also worked as a Family Law Mediator and as a Small Claims Advisor. Instructor Fiorentino is currently a member of the Legal Writing Institute and has helped in the development of the UDC Writing Hub. The Writing Hub offers weekly workshops as well as opportunities for all UDC law students to work with writing mentors one on one.

 

Instructor Fiorentino remains an active member of the California Bar and the American Bar Association. She has served as a judge multiple times for the National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare & Adoption Law.

 

Instructor Fiorentino joined the UDC Legal Writing Program as an adjunct in 2013 and was hired as a Legal Writing Instructor in 2018. Besides teaching Lawyering Process and Moot Court, she has spent the last three summers working with Jump/Fresh Start students. She has also taught for the Legal Assistant Program at UDC-CC and the Paralegal Studies Program at NVCC-Alexandria. She previously was an Assistant Professor for the Forbes School of Business at Ashford University.

 

Instructor Fiorentino currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia. Her first two novels for young adults are available through Kindle Direct Publishing.
