About Jane Ann Zaharias

Dr. Zaharias' research interests are both basic and applied, including investigation of the characteristics and structure of written text and their relationship to comprehension and composition; the development of reader response; inquiry as a vehicle for learning; the function and use of language in academic settings; the professional development of teachers; and the evaluation of instructional materials, practices, and programs.
Dr. Zaharias has both chaired and served as a research methodologist on a number of dissertation committees and has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy research, English and language arts education, content area reading, adolescent literature, and educational research.
